This donation is being made in the memory of Greg "Hammer" Hodges, a Ross Township/Summit Behavior Police Officer that was killed on his motorcycle on July 13, 2004. Friends, family and co-workers organized a benefit ride to raise money to assist Greg's family in paying for funeral expenses. We met our goal and were also able to purchase a memorial bench for all to enjoy when visiting Greg's final resting place. Our intention was to donate the remainder of the money raised to a police organization to donate to in hopes that it will benefit other police officers and/or their survivors in a positive way.

Greg was a Butler County Sheriff Deputy for 10 years. Recently working part time for the Ross Township Police Department during the last 3 years while also working full time for Summit Behavior for the last year. Greg was a dedicated police officer and was very proud to wear the badge. Greg brought joy and happiness to all who knew him and he was loved by all. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Thank you,
The Greg "Hammer" Hodges Benefit Committee
Rick Bowman-Tonja McKee
Jeff Gephart-Sheila Robinson
Donnie and Nina Delph
Mike and Melina Smith
Jeff and Gina Reigert

Along with Greg's family, Summit Behavior and many other friends and co-workers who made donations and volunteered their time and effort to make the memorial ride a success.

We at Ohio COPS mourn the loss of Greg "Hammer" Hodges. Even though he died off duty, he will be carried on this website with your message and his phot for as long as we exist. We will never forget the dedication and sacrifice made by this officer and his family, friends and co-workers. God bless and thank you all for your gracious gift to Ohio's fallen officers' survivors.

A traumatic death shatters the world of the Survivor. It is a loss that doesn't make sense as the Survivor tries to make sense of it and to create some kind of meaning out of a terrible event. The family must confront the fact that life is not fair, that bad things do happen to good people, and that the world no longer feels safe.
